How TLC Began
TLC Program
Teddy Love Club Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support is the first bear giving program in Australia. TLC was born from two mothers heart ache of leaving the hospital with empty arms who just wanted to give a little something to another before they too had to leave the hospital with such empty aching arms.
TLC was founded in South Australia on October 26th 2002. The program grew incredibly and by 2004 had expanded into every state of Australia.
TLC is governed by a board of management, who oversee the running of the program Australia Wide. Each state has a coordinator who manages their respective state and reports back to board of management. TLC Volunteers help to ensure the overall operation of the program.
TLC Name
TEDDY LOVE CLUB, just felt very fitting at the time. A teddy bear gesture given with love to families who often say that TLC is a club that they wish they never joined but one that has brought them so much comfort and understanding right when they need it the most.
TLC Slogan
"Support & Understanding for Bereaved Parents" This slogan signifies everything that we hoped the giving of a bear would bring to another family.
Support so they truly do not feel so alone, like we did when we left the hospital without our babies in our arms.
Understanding that the message behind the teddy bears reaches out to families to bring some comfort & ease the pain of having to leave the hospital with such empty arms.
TLC Mission Statement
Teddy Love Club Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support is an Australia wide support program for bereaved parents who suffer the loss of their baby or babies to miscarriage, stillbirth, termination of pregnancy for foetal abnormality and neonatal death. TLC donates traditional teddy bears to bereaved parents, in the hope the bear may help to ease the pain of leaving the hospital with such aching empty arms. We hope to provide parents with the comfort of knowing they are not alone right from the beginning, and offer significant ongoing support & understanding to bereaved parents, their families and their friends.

The TLC branding is reflective throughout with the colour blue, soft clouds and butterfly's leaving their mark ever so softly throughout.
The cherry blossom in the background is especially significant as cherry blossoms capture love and loss. They bloom for just a moment and are so delicate. Similarily when our babies are born they can only stay with us for a moment, they are incredibly delicate and their beauty simply takes our breathe away.

This poem was chosen and a few words were adjusted for the very first TLC teddy tag that was ever made and received by a family in South Australia. The poem is incredibly fitting and is so very moving. It has truly touched many families through the TLC program.
